PADI Scuba Diver Course

Thinking of getting certified for an upcoming holiday, but don’t have the time to put into a regular diver course? Now there’s a quick and easy program designed especially for you! This is your chance to slap on some fins, strap on a mask and experience an intense adventure in a short amount of time.

Why PADI Scuba Diver?

The PADI Scuba Diver program is a pre-entry level certification that is perfect for holiday divers or people who only plan to dive a couple times a year.

As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver program, the PADI Scuba Diver rating allows you to get certified quickly and easily by minimizing time constraints. With the PADI Scuba Diver certification you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher professional on your next holiday or dive trip to a maximum depth of 12m.

What do I need to start?

Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a Scuba Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Scuba Diver program available.

  • Minimum age: 10
  • Be able to tread water or float for 10 minutes
  • Be medically fit. If there are any ‘YES’ answers on the PADI Medical Questionnaire then a doctors certificate is required before diving. PADI Medical Questionnaire Form

What will I do?

Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing 3 pool dives,3 knowledge development sessions and by making two open water (ocean or lake) dives. You will also need to demonstrate confidence in the water by completing a 10 minute flotation exercise.

Prior to the course starting you will receive an Openwater crewpack with a training manual and DVD. It is important that you read the first 3 chapters of this book and complete the relevant knowledge reviews and view the DVD before starting the course. This gives you a stronger base for knowledge of new concepts, and more opportunity for learning for you.

How long will it take?

PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. However, it can be completed in approx 2-3 days intensely (weather dependent) or over a 3 week period.
